Presented by: Amy Turner, RN, BSN, MMHC, CPC, CHC, CHIAP, Director, advisory solutions Ventra Health

Effective July 1, 2023, you’ll need a prior authorization for facet joint interventions (64490–64495 and 64633–64636) performed in the outpatient setting.

And that’s not the only risk to your facet claims. The HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) checked on compliance with the new uniform local coverage determination (LCD) and found significant problems. In March the OIG estimated that physicians had received $30 million in overpayments in a three-month period and instructed Medicare to beef up its safeguards against improper payments.

Pain management practices also need to prepare for more uniform LCDs. At least four MACs have proposed a uniform urine drug testing LCD (80305–80307, G0659, and G0480–G0483), and five MACs issued a new uniform LCD for sacroiliac (SI) joint procedures (20796, 64451, and 64625) on March 18.

Don’t get caught off guard. This webinar will prepare your practice for Medicare’s next round of high-impact changes in less than an hour.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Follow Medicare’s rules for prior authorization of facet joint interventions
  • Train staff to avoid the top documentation and coding errors that will put their practice’s facet joint intervention claims at risk
  • Determine whether their practice must follow the uniform LCDs for urine drug testing, SI joint injections, and procedures

Agenda

  • Prior authorizations for facet joint interventions: Prepare for Medicare’s new requirement
  • Facet flashpoints: Avoid the documentation flaws the OIG found in its latest audit
  • Bonus: Review the uniform LCDs for urine drug screens and SI joint injections and procedures
  • Live Q&A: Get additional clarity on the topics covered during the presentation
