Level of Program:

Medical claim denials cost money and disrupt workflow—and the denial codes that come with them can be hard to interpret without guidance, causing practices to waste time and miss reimbursement recovery opportunities. During this 60-minute webcast, expert speaker Jennifer Searfoss, Esq., CMPE, will help attendees understand the hundreds of claim adjustment reason codes (CARC), remittance advice remark codes (RARC), and other denial codes that can accompany a denied medical claim. Failure to understand the codes can waste claim handlers’ time and effort, and even cause loss of payments and failed appeals. This webcast will show you how to read, interpret, and act on denial codes. At the end of the program, attendees will have the opportunity to get their own questions answered live by the speaker.

At the conclusion of this program, you will be able to:

    • Understand what denial codes tell them about their denied claims
    • Understand how the codes can help increase their claims’ first-pass payment rate
    • Understand how the codes can save time on denials management
    • Understand how the codes help them handle appeals, ABNs, etc.

  • Denial codes 101: What CARCs, RARCs, claim status, and claim status category codes are for
  • How denial codes relate to management and appeal of denied claims
  • What the most common denial codes mean and what to do about them
  • How denial codes tell you your options for the denied claims on which they appear
  • The meaning of frequently overlooked or misunderstood codes and how to use them to resubmit or challenge denied claims
  • Live Q&A
