Cardiology practices must prepare for dozens of ICD-10-CM and CPT® code changes that have already started to take effect. These changes will affect coding for myocardial infarction, heart failure, sclerotherapy, and anticoagulant management, among many other services. Practices must quickly adjust to Medicare and other fee schedule changes as well as new policies from Medicare’s National Correct Coding Initiative.

During this 60-minute webinar, expert speaker Terry A. Fletcher, CPC, CCC, CEMC, SCP-CA, ACS-CA, CCS-P, CCS, CMSCS, CMCS, CMC, will help participants understand how ICD-10-CM and CPT code changes will impact cardiology practices. She will also explain the new Medicare billing rules and discuss strategies for addressing them.

At the conclusion of this on-demand program, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize CPT changes that will impact cardiology practices, such as arterial needle or catheter introduction, endovascular ablation, chest x-ray, and anticoagulant management
  • Understand ICD-10-CM code changes, including expanded codes for heart failure, MI, and secondary pulmonary hypertension
  • Understand ICD-10-CM Official Guideline changes for combination codes and the various MI types
  • Describe changes in the final Medicare physician fee schedule that will affect cardiology

  • New Medicare billing rules that impact cardiology practices and learn strategies to address them
  • 2018 ICD-10-CM Official Coding Guidelines, including the latest revisions to rules for coding type 2 myocardial infarction, as well as documentation challenges of “linked” diagnosis codes such as diabetes
