Mid-Year MIPS Checkup for Claims-Based Submissions: Get on Track to Succeed at MIPS 2018!

Product Code: YMPDA062118A

Quick Overview

MIPS-included clinicians who report MIPS quality performance on their claims do not receive feedback during the reporting year. Unless a practice creates and follows a process for tracking this information in 2018, its clinicians could be vulnerable to a 5% pay cut in 2020, and they won’t know until they receive their final score.

Level of Program:
Intermediate

Clinicians who report MIPS must meet all program requirements or face a pay cut. MIPS-included clinicians who report MIPS quality performance on their claims would not receive feedback during the reporting year. Unless a practice creates and follows a process for tracking this information in 2018, its clinicians could be vulnerable to a 5% pay cut in 2020. Practices will only be aware of this once their final score is received.

At the conclusion of this program, you will be able to:

  • Learn how CMS will calculate clinicians’ MIPS score
  • Understand best practices for tracking the information submitted by each MIPS-included clinician, such as:
    • Measures being performed
    • Eligible encounter and diagnosis codes
    • Measure codes
    • Measure modifiers
  • Determine whether your practice’s MIPS-included clinicians are on track to receive a passing grade from CMS
  • Identify steps to take if you discover some clinicians won’t make the grade based on performance

Agenda:

  • Lessons learned from year one of MIPS that you should apply to year two
  • The new quality performance metrics MIPS-included clinicians must meet in 2018
  • Claims-based quality reporting: Challenges and risks
  • Capturing and reviewing quality performance data
  • Next steps for staying—or getting back—on track
  • Q&A
