2012 ICD-9-CM Procedure Codes Update Contrary to initial information from CMS, there WILL be significant changes to ICD-9-CM this year. For the procedure section, which is Volume 3, the proposed addenda only had one revised code and one new code. However, the final addenda lists over 20 NEW procedure codes, 24 REVISED procedure codes, and over 75 other changes for inclusion/exclusion/notes. The final addenda for the diagnostic codes should be out today (6.10.11), so there will likely be additional changes than was originally noted. I will provide you with the number of changes for Vol. 1 & 2 as soon as the final addendum is available. What I propose this means is that we should attempt to sell as many books ICD-9-CM (Vol. 1 & 2) and ICD-9-CM (Vol. 1, 2 & 3) as we can because there ARE significant changes to these books. Next year, however, is when the freeze will occur, so we may not sell too many of these books then. Let me know if you have any questions. We are replacing it with Anatomy and Terminology for Coders, 4th Edition. The updated version included some information regarding ICD-10 where applicable and added terminology.
