The payment rules are tightening up for procedures such as hip replacement and arthroscopy to address femoral acetabular impingement (FAI). Orthopedic practices need to keep tabs on the requirements for these high-dollar procedures or face costly denials. In addition, practices must stay up to date on correct coding and billing of two-step revision when the hip prosthetic must be removed to treat infection; they must also know the different types of fractures and how each type is treated and coded.

Join expert presenter Margie Scalley Vaught, CPC, COC, CPC-I, CCS-P, MCS-P, ACS-EM, ACS-OR, as she teaches participants how to navigate payer policies for FAI procedures and how to support medical necessity and other requirements that payers have been adding to their policies for these procedures. Attendees will also gain a deeper understanding of hip replacement coding and billing and learn the keys to proper procedure and diagnosis coding for hip fractures.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Know their way around payer policies for FAI procedures, including the codes that may be reported, how to support medical necessity, and meeting other requirements added by payers
  • Get the big picture on hip replacement coding and billing, including how to comply with Medicare and other payer policies
